About this service

Home boarding in a quiet Church Hill rowhouse with a fenced brick courtyard, for one family's pets at a time so every guest gets real attention. Your dog or cat stays in the house with me, not in a kennel, and keeps as close to their usual routine as I can manage. Before the first stay we do a free meet and greet so your pet can sniff around, meet my senior tabby, and see where they will sleep. I ask for a written routine: meal times and amounts, any medications with the dose and time, walk habits, favorite toys, and anything that makes them nervous, such as thunder, doorbells or strangers at the gate. Dogs get three walks a day around Libby Hill Park and Chimborazo Park, with a slower loop for seniors and short sniff walks for puppies. Cats get a quiet bedroom of their own with a window perch, fresh litter twice a day, and as much or as little company as they want. I give oral medications and eye drops, and I am comfortable with diabetic cats who need insulin on a schedule. You will get a photo update every morning and every evening, plus a short note on meals, bathroom breaks and mood, so you are never guessing how things are going. I work from home, so pets are rarely alone for more than two hours. The house has no stairs to the courtyard, which makes it easy for older dogs. Pickup and drop-off are flexible within Richmond. Holiday weekends book up early, so please reach out a few weeks ahead if you can. Stays are priced per night, and a second pet from the same home is welcome on request.
