Senior Dog Strolls

Senior dogs deserve walks that meet them where they are. These are slow, sniff-led strolls built around your dog's pace, joints and comfort, not a step count. Before the first walk we meet at your home so I can learn your dog's routine, favorite routes, cues, and anything that makes them nervous, like skateboards, bicycles or loud trucks. I keep every stroll on quiet, shaded streets and flat paths near your home, with plenty of rest stops, fresh water and time to take in the smells of the neighborhood. For dogs with arthritis, hip dysplasia or recovering from surgery, I follow your veterinarian's guidance on distance and I am comfortable using support harnesses, rear-lift slings and booties on hot pavement or icy sidewalks. If your dog prefers to stay close to home, we can do a gentle loop around the block and spend the rest of the visit on the porch or in the yard. After each stroll I wipe paws, refill the water bowl, give any medication you have left out, and send you a short note with a photo so you know how the walk went, how your dog was moving, and whether anything seemed different from usual. I have cared for senior dogs for years, including my own sixteen year old beagle mix, and I know that small changes in appetite, gait or mood can matter. I will always tell you what I noticed, even when it is minor. Scheduling is flexible, with late morning and early afternoon slots that avoid the hottest part of the day in summer and the coldest part in winter. Standing weekly visits get priority booking, and I am happy to coordinate with your dog's other caregivers so the routine stays consistent.
